Website encourages you to drunk dial Congress

OK, so, this isn’t exactly a Maine politics story, but I saw this thing and had to share. You’ll thank me later.

A website aptly named drunkdialcongress.org encourages visitors to have a few drinks and call Congress to give them some good-old-fashioned drunken what-for.

You put in your phone number and you’re connected with a randomly selected member of Congress. If you’re interested, the website includes some cocktail recipes for drinks like “The Fancy Statesman” and “The Sleepy Senator.”

The website was built by the liberal D.C.-based PR group Revolution Messaging, whose client list includes mostly labor unions, but also Organizing for America, Rahm Emmanuel for Mayor and a few others.

Odds are, you’ve got something nasty to say to an elected representative: A recent AP/GfK poll by showed that only 5 percent of Americans approve of how Congress is handling its job.

By the way, I crunched the numbers: You have a 0.75 percent chance of connecting with a Maine delegate, or, more likely, a message service for a Maine delegate.
