Here’s what happened on Day One of the 2014 Maine GOP Convention

Party leaders, elected officials and rank-and-file members of the Maine Republican Party will assemble in Bangor Friday and Saturday for their 2014 convention.

After Tea Party uprisings at conventions in 2010 and 2012, party Chairman Rick Bennett has built a unity agenda and is promising a smooth convention. Speakers include Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., Gov. Paul LePage, Sen. Susan Collins, and more.

Keep checking here for live updates from Day One of the convention, and use the #megopsc hashtag on Twitter and Instagram. Your photos and tweets could be included here.

UPDATE: The first day of the convention is over, so now you can still read the live updates below — in chronological order — to get a feel for the day’s events. I’ll be back tomorrow, live-blogging Day Two, when Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Rand Paul, R-Ky., will join Maine Gov. Paul LePage and Gov. Pat McCrory of North Carolina. See you then.
